Day 2: Full Day Guided Tour of the Ribble Valley
After breakfast we met with our local guide, Simon Entwistle, who was to accompany us for the day and show us some of the delights of the Lancashire countryside. The weather was rather dull but the rain held off. Our driver did a very good job at getting the coach round some very tight bends and managing to pass cars on the narrow lanes.
Our first stop was in Downham Village where we had a quick look round the church, St. Lenard’s and the adjoining graveyard with views to the hills beyond. Then the coach took us on a tour of the Ribble Valley, stopping at a pub for lunch. Our next stop was at Slaidburn, a typical Ribble Valley village.
