The annual social event of the season, the raft race for staff at Leeds Castle, took place on a fine June Monday evening. Preparations had been going on in secret for weeks to see which department could build the fasted and most seaworthy craft. On the day it was interesting to see the ingenuity of the individual teams. As the cannon fired for the start the first casualty was apparent. The dragon was slain without any intervention from the brave knights and the fair maid was left well and truly WET! Of course, in the end all participants ended up in the drink! Rewards were a well-deserved BBQ in the Fairfax courtyard. Thanks go to the social committee for an enjoyable evening.
