I visited Groombridge Place garden and enchanted forest with a friend, Sheila. Groombridge was chosen because it was one of the few gardens with roses (a must see in June) and open to the public on a Tuesday. The formal gardens were glorious and we were especially impressed with the white rose garden. After a lunch in the garden restaurant we boarded a canal boat that took us to the start of the enchanted forest. There are a lot of things to see in the forest: dinosaurs, a castle village, a mystic pool, serpent’s lair and a Romany camp to name but a few. The lush vegetation included bamboo, Australian tree ferns, palms and banana trees. Neither of us had ever been there before but I enjoyed it so much I will definitely be returning.
