Nearly 8000 visitors crowded into the grounds for the first-ever horse show at the castle. For those not interested in the equestrian happenings there was a country fair and other entertainment on the Cedar Lawn. I was working at the horse arena, some way from the craft fair, so photographs are mainly from the horse show. A very quick visit to the Cedar Lawn did give the impression of a carnival atmosphere. The Horse Trust had a wagon to take visitors, for a small charge, between the two venues but unfortunately it broke down early on both days.
