Carol from the RSPB emailed me with a plea to take part in filming at Higham Bight. ITV were arriving at 8am to film on river walks with Charlie Dimmock. Volunteers were needed to show litter picking along the Thames shoreline and it was to involve Charlie taking part. As a hardened and experienced litter picker from my work at the various Leeds Castle events I agreed to go along.
It was a very cold but sunny September morning when we met in the car park at Cliffe, from whence we drove to Higham Bight. The site had been cleared of litter earlier in the summer but we did our best and set to whilst the filming went on to the backdrop of an old shipwreck on the shore. Two hours later, cold but with something to show for our effort, we made our way back to the car.
