After a quick walk around the village, we left our hosts to journey on to Plymouth. We made our way to the house of old friends, Dave and Daphne. After a lunch on the riverside we went for a brisk walk, first to the end of a jetty and then to tank up some sea air on a small beach. Dave and Daphne invited us to a nice restaurant in the Plymouth Barbican. After filling ourselves with food and drink we took a taxi back to their house and were soon snug in bed.
Day 4: Wednesday
We set off early as George had decided to direct me on a scenic route home. We travelled via Lyme Regis, which brought back childhood memories, as an aunt ran a guesthouse there and I spent summer holidays there playing with my cousin. We made a short stop to quench our thirst at Minstead in the New Forest. The journey lasted longer than the outward one but at least we did not have to contend with any traffic jams. Nearly eight hours later we were at home.
