After a breakfast at the hotel, our first port of call was the D’Orsay Museum, housed in a building that was once a railway station. According to the brochure ‘the Musée d’Orsay presents the whole range of the fine arts between 1848 and 1914’. The whole morning was spent looking at the fine collection and admiring the impressive building in which it was housed. We then took the Metro to Clichy and after a snack took the funicular railway to Montmatre and the famous basilica of Sacre-Cœur. After a short walk around the hill and a look at the artists quarter we made our way to the Pompidou Centre and then to St Eustache Church and the Bourse. Then it was back to the hotel for a short rest before our evening meal at ‘Chez Gabriel’.
