Sal, Cape Verde (12-19/01/2009)

Excursion around the island of Sal (Part 2) – Terra Boa, Espargos

From Buracona we set off through ‘Terra Boa’ (Good Earth). We passed through scrubland and some of the most fertile area that we had seen on our travels, to the capital of Sal, Espargos. Espargos means ‘asparagras’, one of the many forms of asparagus. The yellow flowers can be seen all over the island. Espargos is the principal commercial and government centre. Once there we had a cool beer in a café and then drove to the communications transmitters for a spectacular view over the town.
