What an awful summer we have! After the dry April and May, when we were watering the garden every day, the summer is cool and wet. However, this combination produced a bumper crop of fruit and vegetables. We spent August picking plums in abundance and handing them out to all neighbours and friends. The Worcester Pearmain apple tree was also full, although the Bramley cooking apple had been pruned early in the year and decided to have a rest. Raspberries too have never been better. On the flower side I was able to spend more time weeding and pruning so that the garden now looks reasonably tidy.
