September started with below average temperatures. The weather slowly improved so that by the end of the month we were basking in sunshine and 27°C. It made up for the dismal summer this year. The dry and warm spring combined with a damp summer led to a bumper harvest for fruit. We have never had so many raspberries before and we were giving them away to anyone who wanted them. One picking could yield up to 3lb of fruit and I was kept busy making jam.
