Visit to Germany (03-11/07/11)

Day 4: Weimar and Leipzig

The previous day we did not have time to see the Goethe House, where Goethe used to live in Weimar. We decided to spend the morning making amends for this and looked around the house and garden before setting off for Leipzig. On the way we had a quick stop for lunch at Jena. Arriving at our hotel on the outskirts of the town, we were told that the best way to get to the city was by tram. This we did as it was far the best way to reach the centre. George was keen to visit the St Thomas Church, but when we left we were caught in a horrendous thunderstorm and took refuge in a doorway. Luckily the storm passed after 20 minutes and we were able to continue our exploration of the city.
