Our Visit to Friends in Devon (30/07-03/08/12)

Tuesday: Kents Cavern, Shaldon, Dawlish Warren, Durant Arms

The plan was to travel up the coast as far as Exeter, stopping off at points of interest. Unfortunately we ran out of time before we completed our tour and had to make our way back. However, we did manage to visit several of the places on our list. Kents Cavern at Torquay was our first stop. It was an interesting experience with a young man, who acted as our guide explaining the various formations inside the cave. Our next stop was at Shaldon, overlooking Teignmouth on the other side of the River Teign. The village has quaint cottages and narrow streets. Our final stop was at Dawlish Warren, a seaside resort in the middle of a nature reserve. Later we invited our hosts for an evening meal in the Durant Arms, the local hostelry in Ashprington.
