May was a fickle month. On very few days we were able to sit in warm sunshine in the garden but for the most part it was dismal, wet and cold. The week I spent in Scotland was very cool and wet in Kent, with the result that George managed to over water many of the plants in the greenhouse so that some rotted – not his fault as he had strict instructions from me to water every day! Everything was very much behind, many plants by at least three weeks. However, as a result, we are assured by the experts that it will be a very good year for fruit in the garden.
