We had a day of travelling by coach to reach the Battlefield area and the chosen route was through the Kingdom of Swaziland. It is a separate country so we had to go through the usual passport control formalities before being allowed in, even getting a stamp in our passports. It was evident when driving through that the country was very poor. We stopped at Malandela’s for lunch and I was impressed with the lovely garden and ‘The House on Fire’, which is a creative venue in the heart of the Kingdom of Swaziland. The ‘House on Fire’ has a performance arena and art gallery in a fantasy environment. The objects, walls, buildings and sculptures, make much use of mosaics. I was very impressed with the beautiful Botanical Garden, which contains mainly succulents and is a place of peace.
