Our annual visit to Germany was a little later this year, as we had to tie it in with Rachel’s and Ramon’s wedding on 2nd August. We stayed for two nights in Aschaffenburg before driving to Mannheim, where the wedding was to take place. Then it was back to Aschaffenburg for another two nights before returning home. We were able to meet up briefly with a few old friends in Aschaffenburg.
31st July Aschaffenburg: BBQ at the Zehs
We were invited to a Barbeque with Horst and Jo. The weather was perfect and the view of their garden stunning.
3rd August Aschaffenburg: Kunstmarkt in the Castle Courtyard
The Kunstmarkt (Artisans’ Market) is now a fixture in the Aschaffenburg annual calendar and is combined with a Carillon concert played from one of the castle towers.
4th August Aschaffenburg: a walk along the River Main
George and I had time for a short walk from the Main Bridge to the Castle.
4th August Lichtenau: an inn in Hochspessart
We invited our Hosts, Veronika and Friedel, for a meal in a restaurant of their choice. Lichetenau is very popular, especially in summer, when it is possible to sit out on a terrace and enjoy the view.
