I had been booked to give an evening talk in Birchington and so decided, as it was a very nice day, to drive to Thanet in the afternoon and visit Margate and the Turner Contemporary Gallery. I was a bit surprised to find only one small Turner painting there but I was a little early for a much larger exhibition of Turner paintings to be staged a few weeks later. The building is very impressive, although I was not so impressed with the current exhibition. However, I can understand that different people have different views on art.
After a pleasant afternoon I made my way just along the coast to Birchington and had a short walk just as the sun was setting.
