The Lost Roads of Meopham – Forty Years on

An Introduction

This project is intended ‘just for fun’. It has no pretensions to academic rigour – it simply records my jottings in working through Jim Carley’s pamphlet some 40 years after publication.

It is very much a ‘Work in Progress’ at this stage. I will be updating it as the year progresses and I am able to further work my way through JC’s list, but I thought that this might be a good time to offer the Society an opportunity to comment on the story so far. I will be very happy to receive comments and incorporate additional information or corrections where appropriate.

In the meantime if anyone is able to supply/ advise where I can get hold of a numbered footpath map I shall be exceedingly grateful. And, donning one of my other hats (as the Pubs Officer of Gravesham and Darent Valley CAMRA) if anyone is able to let me have any details of the Dover Castle (see first section covering Huntondown Wood) – and/or another of Meopham’s lost pubs, the Nevill Arms – my gratitude will know no bounds!

And now you can proceed to read my report on The Lost Roads of Meopham.
