Visit to Hungary (04-13/09/2007)

Day 7, Tuesday: Bratislava

On Tuesday morning Mario took us to the Historic Centre of Bratislava. In spite of the bad weather we enjoyed the sights. We had a very favorable impression of the Centre. It was meticulously restored, the modern additions blended well into the historical character of the town. The streets were clean and closed to normal traffic. Some of the damage and new structures that stood out like sore thumb were the result of the communist rule and cannot be undone so easily.

In the evening I invited all my relatives to dinner. Their choice was a Chinese restaurant. My cousin Adrika and her son Marek with his new bride Janka have also attended.

After the meal we gathered at Sonia’s for a chat, where Mario gave us a tipple from his whisky collection.
