Our Visit to Friends in Devon (16-20/08/08)

Day 2: Monday

George has requested a visit to Stoke Gabriel as he often travelled with Patrick to spend short holidays at his parents’ over 40 years ago. We arrived at Stoke Gabriel to be greeted by wind and rain. This was by far the worst day of our stay weather-wise. After a walk around the village and a visit to the local church we found the house where George had once stayed. From there it was on to Brixham, where our first stop was at the Blue Anchor for some lunch. This was followed by a walk around the harbour, where a replica of Drake’s ship, the Golden Hind, is moored. A walk to Brixham Marina was a disaster as we were caught in a cloudburst, which left all of us very wet indeed. Once back in Ashprington George gave Eileen some lessons in computing, whilst I went for a walk with Patrick. Another cloudburst sent us scurrying back to the house.
