Our Garden – July 2009

The long-term weather forecast had promised a hot summer but so far we have seen little to prove the Met Office right. It was cool but at least the rain gave the vegetable garden a good start, especially the tomatoes. My main problem was how to harvest and dispose of the massive crop of greengages. There is only so much greengage jam that we can get through in a year. On top of that it looks as if the plum tree will have its best year ever. At least the lawns stayed green as usually by now they are looking very yellow.
