Haydown open garden, Great Buckland

Haydown in Great Buckland is owned by Mr and Mrs Edeleanu, who open their garden one day a year under the National Garden Scheme. The garden was a delight, with a vineyard, formal planting and an arboretum containing many interesting trees. The views over Buckland Valley were marvellous. Unfortunately, on our way home, I asked George to turn left at a junction. It was such a tight turn that his car became wedged across the road. Nothing could pass us. Help was soon at hand when several fit young men managed to lift the car and face it in the right direction. A pity we did not have a photo of it.
