March was a lovely month this year. It made up for all the bad weather we had early in the winter. It was very dry with very little rain and plenty of sunshine. As the plants started to send out new shoots and leaves we were dismayed to see that some of our treasured plants had succumbed to the winter cold. This included our escallonia hedge along the front of the garden.
