Visit to Germany with Terry and Su (02-09/07/12)

Day 5: Frankenland, Aschaffenburg

One of the reasons for our Germany excursion is to stock up on the Franken wine, which is only available in Frankonia. We need a good supply for our yearly summer brunch. We made our way overland through the Spessart forests, avoiding the motorway, to Volkach, the centre of Franken wine. There we had lunch in a Gasthaus before driving to Sommerach, where we always buy our wine from the wine producer Henke. Terry and Su were treated to a wine tasting and decided to buy a box too. Then it was back to Aschaffenburg by the fastest route, the motorway. Back in Aschaffenburg, the evening was spent with a stroll along the Main before a glass of wine in the castle.
