Day 3: Jacobite Steam Train and Isle of Skye

This was a day for the boys – a ride on an old steam train. The 21-arched Glenfinnan viaduct overlooks Loch Shiel and was made famous in the Harry Potter films. Our destination was Mallaig, where we had a short stay before boarding the ferry for the Isle of Skye. Return to the mainland was by the Skye Bridge opened in 1995, which connects the Isle of Skye with Kyle of Lochalsh. From there it was just a short drive to Eilean Donan Castle, on the shore of Loch Alsh. From there we made our way back to the hotel through Glen Shiel and Invergary.
