I have often been asked what kind of a place Berlin is. Like many major cities, this place has many faces. The centre, of course, has been carved by recent history, but the outer parts still have their old individual character.
For me, it is a city of music with the Berlin Philharmonic and three opera houses.
One third of the city is covered by forests and lakes. During this stay, we were nearly always heading for the waterways, as it was unusually hot for the beginning of June.
The first seven pictures were taken during a pleasure boat trip on the river Spree.
