We had been waiting for some good weather for a long time. When it finally arrived we took the opportunity to visit Audley End, a Jacobean Mansion managed by English Heritage, with gardens by Capability Brown, at Saffron Walden in Essex.
First we took the guided tour of the house, visited the service wing and then strolled round the grounds with lakes, organic vegetable and fruit gardens, and formal gardens. The yew Cloud Hedge was having its annual prune.
A great place for a visit.
