We wanted a long weekend to visit Longleat with Sandra’s parents and her sister, Susan.
We thought it would be easy to book accommodation in September but it proved quite a trial. Eventually we booked a farmhouse B&B in Cranbourne Chase which proved a good choice as it was a lovely restored property in beautiful surroundings, with a great hostess and host (www.coolsfarm.co.uk). We found some great local inns for evening meals.
We visited Stourhead (National Trust garden) on the way; the next day Longleat and on the way home Shaftesbury and Monkey World.
